It was five years ago when I met David Tulis for AOPA interview right after I got commercial pilot license. During the interview at that time, my parents were there with me and later on my father sent me a letter about how much he was proud of me talking about what I’ve done in the U.S. This is the beauty of the American aviation community because what Dave wrote just perfectly explained who I am and why I flew around the world in this article. I am hoping, some decades later, Japanese aviation community understand why Shinji flew around the world. My responsibility from now on is to emphasize how much more and better we can do for Japanese aviation community. I’m not complaining about my past in Japan. I want to make sure that our kids have better opportunities now and in the near future. Thank you for wonderful article, Dave!!
米国AOPAとの出会いは2016年に遡る。僕が事業用免許を取得した記事をデイブさんが取り上げてくれたのだ。その時に同席したのが僕の両親。後日、父からの手紙にはこの時のインタビューをどれだけ誇りに思うかと綴られていました。そして今日、新たな記事がAOPAより出されました。まったく文化も違う彼らですが、真っ直ぐに僕の心境を綴ってくれています。完璧なインタビュー記事です。これがアメリカ航空の素晴らしい文化です。ぜひ日本の航空関係者も年齢や今までの職歴に関係なくこの記事の真意を汲み取っていただきたいと思っています。祖国の航空コミュニティがどれほど改善の余地があるかということを理解していただきたいのです。『夢や目標を簡単に語るな』と日本の航空関係者に忠告され続けてきた私。ただ、今、世界を飛んではっきり言えることは、日本がどれほど諸外国から遅れているかという現実を目の当たりにし、危機感を持っているということです。その自覚とともに今後も活動していきます。デイブさん、素晴らしい記事をありがとうございました。
