In order to fly into Thailand, we had to fly into Myanmar because Thailand banded a direct flight from Sri Lanka. Due to FAA restrictions, Lucy was not able to install any ferry tank so Ahmed and I didn’t have any choice. We had to go to Myanmar. A issue was Myanmar didn’t any AVGAS so we carried minimum fuel in the Lucy with jerry cans. There was a company where I requested a sponsorship prior to my departure and what they told me was “your fligjt is not part of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics ) so we cannot support”. I totally disagree with the decision because all our flight was exceeding all STEM. Actually, this Myanmar flight was a perfect example of STEM+. It was way beyond STEM because we were able to manage all factor of them. I was very very touched when I saw Myanmar’s people’s big smiles since I was very misunderstood by TV news. They were very kind and without asking, they helped me refueling. And they brought a Jet fuel track as well because they thought I can use it. We laughed a lot.
