Day 22 - Flying over the “Saudi Arabia Desert “


This was the second location of I thought “this is, we may not be able to go through today”. Less visibility, violent turbulence, heat, bad connection of radio communication, fear, pressure, etc. After landing, I’ve should taken pictures but the leading edge of new paint prop was pealed …..it’s functionally ok but I felt that “really? That much we had sand in the air? Oh Lucy are you ok?”………. If you fly over Saudi Aravia desert, please expect this. It was serious flight even I posted “happy ending Shinji video” on that date.

世界一周中、サウジアラビア砂漠を飛んだ時に「これで俺は今日、人生終わりなんだな」と思った。砂漠特有の上昇気流が一気に砂を巻き上げ、視界を妨げる。それだけではない、相手は「細かい砂」。容赦無くルーシーにぶつかり着陸後の機体点検で数々の傷が。。。新品のプロペラ前縁部のペイントも見事に削り取られ(飛行に影響はないがかわいそう。。。)、この空域の環境の悪さを知る。米国では絶対に体験できないが、もう一回飛べといわれると「絶対に飛びたくない空域」の一つ。ここは本当に容赦ない場所でした。
