Flying over Russian Atlantic was just like flying over my home - Hokkaido. A lot of mountain with snow, dark green trees, fields... at Magadan airport, it was absolutely fresh air and I said “don’t worry, you will fly Japan again. It was not quite good timing yet” and I smiled. Last night was just amazing experience because I was able to give a speech to Russian aviation school kids. Yes!! I canceled all speech during this mission flight but Russian handler asked me to do it so I said. “Oh yes!! Absolutely I want to do it!!” There were a lot of great question and I can see kid’s smiles. This moment I recalled what my father told me in the hospital before he passed away -“meet people, talk to them what you done”. I was absolutely overwhelmed and thankful to Russian people. Thank you very much Russia!! BTW I’m staying in airport office because I was told I cannot get out from airport tonight.
ロシア上空 何度も思うことがあった。まるで北海道の空を飛んでいる様だと。たくさんの山々 深い緑 そして畑が上空から見える 『あーいいな〜この感じ 多分 北海道十勝平野もこんな感じなんだろう 飛びたかったな〜』と思うも「大丈夫 お前さんまた飛ぶから」と自分に言い聞かせる。実を言うと昨晩 想定外のことが起きた。それはロシア航空学校の子供達に講演をしたのだ。たくさんの質問、笑い、もうこんなことがあっていいのだろうかという偶然だったが病室で約束したオヤジのストリーを話すや「本当にありがとうございます 亡き父と約束していたんです。この地球一周は多くの人たちに生きる喜びそしてその厳しさを共有することだと。だから全て中止した講演がこの様にできたこと、しかも空を目指す子供達にできたこと本当に感謝します」と。 僕はやっぱり世界を飛んできてよかったなと痛感しました。ロシア、ちょっと怪しい国だがここも心温かい人が沢山いました なおこの投稿をするはずだった今夜はロシアの空港で1泊しています。
