Starting in 2026, I will begin systematically sharing the experience of my 2021 solo around-the-world flight, Earthrounder, as a professional aviation safety and training case study.
Nearly five years after the flight, I believe the time has come to analyze the decisions, risk assessments, and operational judgments made during that journey—not emotionally, but through the lenses of safety management, human factors, and operational philosophy.
Operating internationally during the COVID-19 pandemic, under discriminatory conditions and significant bureaucratic constraints, required continuous reassessment of:
・decision criteria
・points of no return
・ and the redefinition of safety margins
These experiences now represent a highly relevant and practical case study for modern aviation education and safety culture.
As the first step, I delivered a lecture at the Washington State Pilots Association, Bellingham Chapter.
Despite the audience consisting largely of highly experienced pilots, the discussion was thoughtful, and the feedback was both candid and constructive.
This content will be shared progressively across various professional aviation forums.
Because aviation safety is not limited to procedural compliance—it is fundamentally about developing sound judgment under complex and imperfect conditions.
2026年より、2021年に実施した単独世界一周飛行 Earthrounder の経験を、航空安全教育を目的とした専門的コンテンツとして体系的に共有していくことを決定しました。
フライトから約5年が経過した今、当時の判断・リスク評価・意思決定プロセスを、感情論ではなく安全工学・運航哲学・ヒューマンファクターの観点から整理し、教育として説明できる段階に入ったと考えています。
パンデミック下での国際運航、差別的環境、官僚的制約といった複合リスクの中で、
・ 何を基準に判断したのか
・どこで引き返す選択肢が存在したのか
・どのように安全マージンを再定義したのか
これらは、現在の航空教育・安全文化において極めて実践的なケーススタディになり得る内容です。
その第一弾として、ワシントン州のパイロット協会・ベリンガム支部にて講演を実施しました。
経験豊富なパイロットが多く参加する中で、内容は真剣に受け止められ、多くの建設的なフィードバックを得ることができました。
本内容は今後、講演・教育・安全啓発の場において段階的に共有していく予定です。
航空安全とは、手順の遵守に留まらず、状況下での判断力をいかに育成するかに他なりません。
